Ethnically, the Niasers are involved in to the Ptoto-Malay ethnic who once ever get with the Asian Proto-mongoloid world. Niasers speak a kind of language related to Malagasy. Because of the similarity in languages, custom, body size of the Niasers with the Bataks on Sumatra mainland, it is possible that the Niasers have derived from the Bataks

How to get to Nias island  Getting to Nias island nowadays surprisingly easy from anywhere in south east Asia. It involves two short flight and 1 – 3 hours drive. To give you an idea. If you leave Singapore in the morning you can be on the beach in the south or noth of Nias island in the    afternoon on the same day. Having International flight into Jakarta, Medan and Padang; You will fly directly from these international airports to Binaka airport of Gunung Sitoli in the north Nias island, the main airport of the remote island.   However Medan is the best gateway to Nias with few domestic flight option servicing daily.

BEST SURFING SPOTS IN NIAS ISLAND To get a glimpse at the array of Surfing in Indonesia, here’s a  list of the best surfing spots in Nias Island Sorake Break:  Also Main Break, it is the core of Nias and a classic in the region. This is the break where the first world-class wave was ever surfed in Sumatra (1975, by Australian surfers). It is a reef-coral right handed, especially easy to access: you can paddle out from Lagundri Beach. Usually there are not many surfers and the break has a consistent frequency (150 days a year). It is recommended only for experienced surfers and it rises from 3ft. to 6+ ft.
